Vispārējās pašefektivitātes saistība ar dzīves jēgas esamību, dzīves jēgas meklējumiem un sociāli demogrāfiskiem rādītājiem

2019

Tika izmantota Vispārējās Pašefektivitātes Skala (The General Self-Efficacy Scale – GSE; Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), Dzīves jēgas aptauja (Meaning In Life Questionare – MLQ; Steger, Frazier, Oishi, & Kaler, 2006). un tika iekļauti sociāldemogrāfiskie rādītāji – dzimums, vecums, izglītība, ģimenes stāvoklis. Pētījuma izlase sastāvēja no 96 respondentiem (66 sievietes un 30 vīrieši) vecumā no 18 līdz 60 gadiem (M = 27,39, SD = 8,8). Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka pas…

Responses in metabolic rate to changes in temperature in diapausing Colorado potato beetleLeptinotarsa decemlineatafrom three European populations

2015

Many insects survive adverse periods in seasonal environments by entering diapause, a deep resting stage, during which energy consumption is typically low and gas exchange is in the form of a discontinuous gas exchange cycle (DGC). Because insects in high-latitude environments are severely time constrained during summer, an effective diapause termination with careful regulation of metabolic rate is important. The present study examines whether diapausing Colorado potato beetles Leptinotarsa decemlineataSay originating from three latitudinally different regions in Europe differ in their quantitative or qualitative gas exchange patterns in response to an increasing temperature. Overall produc…

Benchmark study of undrained triaxial testing of Opalinus Clay shale: Results and implications for robust testing

2021

Triaxial testing of argillaceous rocks and shales is significantly more challenging than conventional rock mechanical testing. The challenges are mainly related to the very low permeability of these geomaterials, and their sensitivity to exposure of atmosphere and brines, which induces variations of water content, suction and effective stress. There are currently no international standards to guide service laboratories for robust testing procedures for shales. A benchmark study of undrained triaxial testing was therefore initiated with three leading service laboratories in shale testing, performing 13 tests and using two different methods of establishing sample saturation prior to deformati…

Application of Electronic Nose for Evaluation of Wastewater Treatment Process Effects at Full-Scale WWTP

2019

This paper presents the results of studies aiming at the assessment and classification of wastewater using an electronic nose. During the experiment, an attempt was made to classify the medium based on an analysis of signals from a gas sensor array, the intensity of which depended on the levels of volatile compounds in the headspace gas mixture above the wastewater table. The research involved samples collected from the mechanical and biological treatment devices of a full-scale wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), as well as wastewater analysis. The measurements were carried out with a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) gas sensor array, when coupled with a computing unit (e.g., a computer with…

Water dissociation and water-gas shift energetics on MgO, MgO/Ag and Au/MgO/Ag surfaces

2011

Water dissociation and the energetics of the WGS reaction on a bulk MgO, an Ag supported MgO thin film and Au/MgO/Ag surfaces is studied based on the density functional theory. The literature results for water splitting on MgO and MgO/Ag surfaces with a step type defect are repeated and further analysis on the origin of the energetically favored dissociative water adsorption are made. The reactivity towards water dissociation on the stepped MgO and MgO/Ag surfaces is attributed to four contributing factors: 1. The change in the interlayer distance of the surface in dissociative adsorption is diminished on the stepped surfaces compared to the flat surfaces. On the flat surfaces the dissociat…

Enerģijas sektora integrēta attīstības plānošana Latvijas pašvaldību teritorijās

2015

Maģistra darba mērķis – pašvaldības energoplāna izstrādāšanas nepieciešamības pamatojums un integrācija teritorijas at…

Escalating CO2 degassing at the Pisciarelli fumarolic system, and implications for the ongoing Campi Flegrei unrest

2019

Abstract This short communication aims at providing an updated report on degassing activity and ground deformation variations observed during the ongoing (2012–2019) Campi Flegrei caldera unrest, with a particular focus on Pisciarelli, currently its most active fumarolic field. We show that the CO2 flux from the main Pisciarelli fumarolic vent (referred as “Soffione”) has increased by a factor > 3 since 2012, reaching in 2018–2019 levels (>600 tons/day) that are comparable to those typical of a medium-sized erupting arc volcano. A substantial widening of the degassing vents and bubbling pools, and a further increase in CO2 concentrations in ambient air (up to 6000 ppm), have also been detec…

Unmanned aerial vehicle measurements of volcanic carbon dioxide fluxes

2008

[i] We report the first measurements of volcanic gases with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The data were collected at La Fossa crater, Vulcano, Italy, during April 2007, with a helicopter UAV of 3 kg payload, carrying an ultraviolet spectrometer for remotely sensing the SO 2 flux (8.5 Mg d- 1 ), and an infrared spectrometer, and electrochemical sensor assembly for measuring the plume CO 2 /SO 2 ratio; by multiplying these data we compute a CO 2 flux of 170 Mg d -1 . Given the deeper exsolution of carbon dioxide from magma, and its lower solubility in hydro-thermal systems, relative to SO 2 , the ability to remotely measure CO 2 fluxes is significant, with promise to provide more profound…
